Winny is the DJ Dog wild, not only the mascot
Winny is the dog at the decks on the left of the screen, and he is also a symbol that lands on the grid. Those are two different jobs and the game draws him differently for each — on the reels he wears sunglasses.
The screenWinny
The dog on the artwork and the symbol on the reels
Off the grid, Winny stands behind a lit mixing desk on the left of the screen, in a red jacket with a paw print on it and a pair of headphones round his neck. He animates while a round resolves. He is not a control and clicking him does nothing.
On the grid he is a symbol like any other, drawn smaller, with dark glasses added. The sunglasses are the practical way to tell the two apart in a still, which matters because the corner portrait and the reel symbol are otherwise the same dog.
What he stands in for, and the one thing he does not
He is the wild. He substitutes for every ordinary symbol on the grid to complete a line — the cat, the bag, the headphones, the collar, the firecrackers, the biscuit.
He does not substitute for the gold record. That exception is not a detail: the record is the symbol that carries its own multiplier and pays by landing anywhere rather than along a route, and a wild that could stand in for it would be a different game entirely. Every account of the paytable that names the exception names the same one.
Three of him is the top line win
A full line of wilds pays 20x of the round stake, which is the highest value in the line ladder — above the golden cat at 10x and the red bag at 5x. On three columns a full line is three symbols, so three of him is both the most he can do and the only way he pays on his own.
Set that beside what the records can do and the proportions of this game are clear. The biggest thing on the lines is 20x; the records run as high as the top of a 0.5x to 500x ladder and are added together when 5 or more land. The wild is useful, often, and small. That is a deliberate shape, not an oversight.
Where he appears when the reels are not spinning
In the corner portrait, which reacts to what happens on the grid, and on the opening of the eight-spin feature, where the artwork shows him throwing his paws up as the counter lights.
What he does not do is appear on the grid during that feature. Only records and empty positions land for its eight spins, so the wild — the symbol that exists to complete lines — is out of the set for exactly the stretch when the lines have nothing to complete. The two facts fit together neatly once you see them side by side.
About Winny
Who is Winny in DJ Dog?
Winny is the shiba inu who fronts the game: the character at the decks on the left of the screen, and the wild symbol on the reels. The reel version wears sunglasses, which is how you tell it from the portrait.
Is Winny the wild symbol?
Yes. He substitutes for every ordinary symbol on the grid to complete a line. The one symbol he does not replace is the gold record.
What does a full line of Winny pay?
20x of the round stake for three of him, which is the top value in the line ladder — above the golden cat at 10x and the red bag at 5x.
Does Winny appear during the eight-spin feature?
No. Only gold records and empty positions land during Lucky Spins, so the wild is out of the symbol set for the whole of it.
Can I try the game here without money?
No. There is no copy of DJ Dog on this site, no window that loads one, and no link dressed up as one — the single outbound link is the operator button at the top of the page.
A free mode does exist for this title: one catalogue runs it, a British review page carries it behind an age check of its own, and a third account describes playing it hands-on. Whether any particular site or operator exposes it is their decision and changes without notice, so this page will not promise you one.
One character doing two jobs, one exception worth remembering. The rest of the screen is the strip of controls under the grid.
